R&D Evaluation System

AVAP uses the Peer Review system to assess research, development and business innovation projects.

In academic circles, this is considered to be the most accepted system for validating written work and funding applications in order to gauge their quality, feasibility, thoroughness, etc.

The process works on the following principles:

  • Referees are always experts who have similar or greater experience in the subdiscipline than the applicants.
  • An odd number of experts, always three or more, review each application.
These experts work alone and anonymously; they do not know who the other referees are, nor can they communicate with them.
  • Referees do not know who the applicants are.
  • Referees do not need to reach a consensus.
  • Referees are chosen from outside the Valencian Region (from other parts of Spain or from abroad) and are never connected in any way to the applicants’ family or professional life.
